almir &Vanja Muhovic Trio shows a different, subtler side of the traditional music from the Balkans. Beautiful interpretations carry stories of tenderness interlaced with love, melancholy intertwined with strong and confronting emotions, making each of their songs a special treat of its own. They present not only urban traditional music from Bosnia and Herzegovina but also the ethno music from all across the Balkans, with an emphasis on “sevdalinka”.

 

Most of the songs performed are well-known among the fans of the popular and traditional music. These traditional songs are performed in new arrangements, in which the significant influence of popular, jazz, and classical music of the 20th century is easily recognizable.

In this artistic endeavor, members of Almir Meskovic and Vanja Muhovic Trio, all academically educated classical/jazz musicians, bring strong influence and presence of classical/jazz music elements, as well as high technical approach in terms of performing. This combination essentially separates them from many other musical groups and ensembles of the similar musical style.
